The school year might bring some challenges for families. There is support all around you in Allegheny County.
Getting your child to school
There are many different root causes of school absences. Please partner with your school counselor or social worker if your child needs support to be successful in school. Your local family center can assist if your family has needs (such as behavioral health, housing, etc.) that are getting in the way of the parent emphasizing positive school attendance.
Childcare, pre-school and before and after school programs
Use the Allegheny Child Care Tool to find childcare and before and after school programs.
Find quality childcare or get help in applying for the childcare subsidy by contacting the Early Learning Resource Center at 888 340-3572.
Find free early learning classes for infants, toddlers and kids 3-5. Start with the Early Head Start/Head Start Program locator to enroll your child or call (412) 350-6611.
Hello Baby offers support for parents of new babies. It’s a collaborative effort among family-focused organizations in Allegheny County. Hello Baby reaches families through the existing network of Family Centers, but any family can get support from a Family Center through the Hello Baby website, 2-1-1 warmline, or texting service. All services are voluntary.
